My long dream has been to become a prestigious doctor. I know the road is going to be tiresome and long, but in the world I come from my family, my school, and my community are helping me to obtain my aspiration to one day become a doctor.
Ever since I was little, my father has always demanded good grades and nothing lower than a B average. Because of this, I am grateful. I am grateful that my father has always pushed me farther than my own limits, making me understand that there is no such thing as “perfection” but with hard work there is always a greater reward. I have often thought about giving up and staying in my comfort zone but my adventurous spirit has led me to paths that I might have not taken.
One of this paths was to AVID, a program in school that prepares students to take on the challenges of high school, college, and soon to a fulfilling career. Besides AVID, my school offers pre-ap classes that are noticeable by colleges. These programs would not be here without the support of the teachers that dedicate their time and effort to see their students succeed. These are some ways that school has helped me achieve some of my accomplishments and those to come. Without school, knowledge would only be for the curious ones.
Even though I don’t participate much in my community, as I should, I know that my community is adequate for my learning. It is a safe environment where I can go about my day. We hear a lot about shootings in schools all over the United States, shootings that destroy communities that have lost their sense of safety. The peace of mind that my community brings me allows me to stay focus in my dreams. When I reach those dreams I know I can give back to my community that in a sense has protected me and allow me to grow.
Without my community, school, and my parents I would not be standing where I am today. I would not have all of these opportunities handed to me and I would not be this close to my dreams. I have no words to describe my gratitude to thank all the people that have joined me in my journey to fulfill my long term dream of becoming a doctor.
