AVID has helped me on high school and my road to college. AVID has helped me on choose the classes to take in high school depending on my interest and the college I would like to attend. I’m interested in building new things and science, so I’ll probably take STEM for a class. Going back to House Bill 5, and not having algebra 2 for a requirement for graduating, AVID helped me in whether it should be good on taking job training or taking algebra 2. House Bill 5 will probably pass in January and it’s going to making choosing your career easier since you will have experience with job trainings and whether you like it or not you going to go to the career the job training you liked the most. AVID has also taught me about what college to go according to my GPA and grades.
AVID has helped me prepare for a better future. For instance, convincing me to go to college. By going to college you would be more successful in life and making a difference. It taught me that college is a good opportunity of getting the life you wanted, and not just making a difference in your family also by making a difference in others students’ live. AVID is also helping me to make decisions that will effect my education and career later on down the road. AVID taught me how to be more organized with my stuff and things I had to get accomplish either by the end of the week or during the month. Being more organized helped a lot during the days that I had to do a lot of things and by meeting deadlines.
AVID has helped my grades improve and go up. The way my grades boosted up was by doing tutorials two days a week. The TRF’S includes your point of confusion, problem, vocabulary words, and the things you know about your question. Cornell Notes are another way that has helped my grades increase. The way Cornell Notes helped me bring up my grades is by writing three questions on the side that could be answer by the notes I took. Later on I will answer the questions as the summary, when there would be a test I would mostly go over my summaries since they include most of the notes.
In conclusion, AVID has helped me achieve so many things. House Bill 5 could impact many students life mostly the ones that were trying to have algebra 2 as a class to get prepare for college. As Ms. Watkins says, “Make it happen!”
