Your decisions right now can either help you or pull you down even farther from your future career goals. My teachers have always told me that planning for college can never begin too early. Don’t ever let other people influence your decision, no matter who they are in your life.
The major I have chosen for my future is Political Science. Choosing this major might have been one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my entire life. Picking your major has to do with the career you want and also with your goals in life. You should always start planning ahead of time before it’s too late. I have guidance that most students don’t get the opportunity to get in middle school. I have had this guidance for the past two years from my AVID teacher Ms.Watkins. She is the best because she gives us advice and only wants the best for us and from us.
My college research gave me the opportunity to realize which colleges offer my major. Ms.Watkins took us to see the University of Oklahoma and Stephen F. Austin this year, which really helped a lot of students see if those schools offer their major. But the person who most helped me decide on my career was my mom. She supports me no matter what I decide to study or where I decide I to go for college. My mom even helped me look for a college/university and also pick my career, which was really cool of her. In AVID we really care about our future because Ms.Watkins wants us to have an idea of what we want to major in before we leave middle school this year. She only wants the best for us and she wants us to really try our best in reaching our goals.
AVID has helped me by letting me know that I’m not just another number and that I can make a difference. This class has really helped me decide on my future goals and major. It has helped me become more organized which will really help me when I get to college. This class has become my second home because it’s just like what my mom does at home. My AVID family supports me no matter what I choose for my future. AVID has helped me realize that I can reach for the sky and above. My generation is going to be the one who closes the achievement gap by decreasing the rate in high school dropouts. We are going to be the generation who MAKES IT HAPPEN.
The decisions you make now will stay with you forever and no matter who you become in the future you won’t be able to change them. You can make your future as bright as you want if you really try but just always remember to reach for the stars and above. We may not want to be in school right now, but later on we're going to thank our parents and teachers for pushing us to be our best.
