Walking through the Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) campus, I felt a strong connection. I could envision myself walking on my way to class. I felt like it was the perfect college that will help me accomplish my goals.
A few days ago, when I spent the day at SFA, I had the opportunity to learn more about the campus and the majors they offered. The university had many unique qualities. SFA is a very diminutive campus unlike other universities. I also acknowledged that the classes were very small, which is something that is essential for me in order to choose the perfect college. SFA is also a beautiful campus. The tall pines, the gardens, and in general, the environment was lovely. Unlike other universities that I have visited, I felt that the students were very united and there was a very strong bond between them.
After spending the day at SFA, I believe that this is one of the top options for my future college. Throughout middle school, I have learned many things about college that will help me choose the right one. One thing that I liked the most about SFA was that it comprises six colleges: business, education, fine arts, forestry and agriculture, liberal and applied arts, and sciences and mathematics. Another thing that caught my attention was the Academic Assistance and Resource Center (AARC). This program helps you receive the tutoring you need to succeed in core subjects. I was also very interested in the School of Honors. This is a program where you will benefit from early registration, unique scholarship opportunities, field trips, and designated computer labs. I also liked that they offered something called “SFA 101” which is a specially designated course for new SFA students that is proven to raise your grade point average and college retention. In this class, you learn about campus and community resources, test-taking and study skills, and SFA history and traditions.
At the end of the field trip to SFA, my thoughts about my decision on what college to attend changed completely. Before this trip I had no idea or any options on what college I would like to attend after high school. When the trip ended, my mind was set completely on SFA. I felt like it is the perfect college for me. It has all the qualities I’ve been searching for. Overall, I believe SFA will be a great opportunity for me and will help me achieve my goals in the future!
In conclusion, SFA made me realize all the opportunities that are available for me in the future. Thanks to the AVID program, I had the opportunity to visit several universities over the past two years and learn more about the options I have for my future. This visit was really helpful by providing me more information about some of the many opportunities I will be provided with. I had a lot of fun learning many facts about this university! This was a great experience and I hope to one day attend Stephen F. Austin State University!
